It might be a nod to the guy that did it thereby causing him more fame, and I believe that the eyes are a mirror to the soul and his are buttoned up, because his soul would soon be gone. | |

Blackstar is hissuccess dying out when he passes, Major Tom Floating off to space in a void, the Song that brought him great fame could be a Blackstar. There is a Black star on the Bible could mean he did not believe in everything written in the bible. I could go on. Thanks for the reply . | @[smusr:8296] Woe, Way out there, really reaching. I don't think it has a single thing to do with black musicians even though black musicians and jazz influenced him greatly. The astronaut is simply Major Tom. His first real hit and is tattered and dead for numerous reasons, like it was a long time ago and so it would be tattered old and have died. I just think you thought so deeply that it doesn't make sense to me. But, hey, free speech and thoughts for us all. The smiley face was also just a reminder to be happy, life is too short and he was happy with his success and also the smiley face and his first album under another band was in the same year 1963. Thanks .Sincerely, Terminalstare My sympathies to you and all who knew the artist and the man. I was so fortunate to have 2 dreams of him with me last night, he was sick but allowed me to love him. Then I awoke went back to sleep and had another dream about him telling me to get on with life that I didn't really know him. To which I responded in a long diatribe to him that I have felt like I have known him since I was 8 years old and he shaped my life, so he allowed me to stay with him. Just thought I would share a private moment that I will never forget, just like him, unforgettable. | |

@[Darkdream:8134] I left the computer on all night and his music played and I had the greatest honor of having not one, but 2 dreams about him and I. What a wonderful present from the man himself. I also noted that he was known for his eye color. In the video it pans from his eyes and others and the blackened out moon, and so many mentions of his famous eyes,, yet they were covered in the video for most of it. His famous eyes saw things around him and his hands wrote the music about what he saw. Both the eyes and hands were mentioned in the lyrics. He was on pain pills from the lyrics of Lazarus. Check that out too, and he was floating off the bed and mentioned he was so high. Still can't believe I had 1 dream woke up, went back to sleep and dreamed about him again. What a blessing. This song gives me chills. knowing he was dying he must have asked God why? But got no response," I can’t answer why ,Just go with me. Also he thumbed his nose at the great I am or he believed that after death he would become the great I am. Your'e a flash in the pan meaning you are just here for a short time, you are fleeting. In the video, He said Goodbye to his success, as Major Tom was the alien like astronaut.His solitary candle burned out, he floated off to be a star that was burnt out, a dead star. I believe he believed in reincarnation from the lyrics, Something happened on the day he died Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried (I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar) When he mentions the day of execution, I believe that the cancer was his execution.
