I know a lot of people are saying this is a love song, but I don't quite agree.
I think it's a song written to a suicidal person and they're trying to convince him/her that although the world is ugly, he or she is beautiful to them and they should fight against society's expectations. The person is battling depression and thinks there's nothing left to live for. The world IS ugly: shallow people everywhere convinced that beauty is only skin deep, wars, betrayal, unrequited love. But he or she is beautiful. At least to them. |

The song reminds me of Nico di Angelo . . . I'm pretty sure she had him in mind when she wrote the song. Just replace she with he. |
