Twenty One Pilots – Doubt Lyrics 10 years ago
To me this is a lot more than Tyler and Josh saying that they're scared; it's a prayer. I can tell this is about faith and trust. The song begins with this plain honesty and then dives into asking for help and forgiveness. "Want the mark he's made on my skin to mean something to me again. Hope you haven't left with out me... please" - He knows God, and people have been telling him that he needs him and... he knows that he needs him... It's like he was in a good place, fell out of it, and now he wants back in, praying that God hasn't given up on him. He says "you are all that I've got," and "even when I doubt you, I'm no good without you."
I find it incredible when artists can incorporate their faith into their music and people either get it, or interpret the lyrics as something important to them and create so many meanings. I find that so powerful and even courageous. This song especially is so deep and ambiguous, and I love that about their music.
As someone with anxiety and problems, I want people to know that they can have second, third, fourth, fifth chances and that you will never be given up on.
