This song has 2 meanings. 1) Seljuk Turks that invaded the Caucasus and subjugated crusader Kingdoms like the Kingdom of Georgia, Armenia, and finally they conquered Byzantium. 2) At the same time the song is comparing USA to a Crusader state that pillages the holy lands (middle east) for it's riches and slays the heathens (Muslims). | This song is obviously about the time of the Crusades. The Mention of the Seljuks, could probably hint that the Crusaders were from the Byzantines, or maybe the Armenians of Cilicia. I Just dont understand certain parts like, "Who victored over, the Seljuks, when the Holy land was taken!" First of all, nobody has the answer to the actual song meaning, I just want to make that clear. Unless of course, it is SOAD themselves. But i'll be glad to tell you guys my educated interpretation or guess on the topic; "May I please remain in this space, For darts screech by my desires," -I believe this verse is about wishing of remaining in "The Garden Of Eden." Darts screech by humanities "life threatening" desires. I believe it is a little joke, because screech in itself is kind of "pierces" your ear drums, and her they envision a piercing object "screeching" as if humanities desires as so harmful that they make even darts "screech." "Art thou not human man Not human man art thou" -I believe this translates to, "Are you not human, man?" and "Not Human, you are man." I think this goes to when people try to make humanity seem good, when they say,"Aren't you Human" as if humans are sane. And then the next verse claims that "Man" itself is not Human because we are insane. It is confusing, but it sort of makes sense. "Life threatening lifestyles, A hitman, a nun, lovers," -I believe it can mean all three are life threatening, but it would make more sense if they were suggesting that the Nun and the Hitman were lovers. I think this goes to show, that people have terrible desires. The Nun wants to Hitman, because he is a "hot shot" or bad boy and that turns her on, and at the same time the Hitman wants to fuck the Nun because he fantasizes about it, and that maybe his fetish. This goes back to the first verse about humanities terrible desires. "Arise as did the gods ninti, Arise as did the gods ninti, and ishkur" -I believe this translates to, "Arise as did the gods, Eve(from garden of Eden) and Ishkur was the god of storms and also resembles Adam(also from garden of Eden) This is funny because Ishkur was the son of SIN(Sin was the Akkadian God of the Moon) SO in other words the whole teaching in Christianity about humans being born of SIN, stems ALL the way back to Sumeria/Akkadia. And perhaps the verse is about "rising" in terms of not caring what anyone tells you to do and not do, when Eve at from the fruit she was given Godly awareness and knowledge, when before she was just like a normal animal. I guess this goes into SOADS background of promoting the idea of self-confidence and awareness. "Clock men for they will fail, Fear not the gods that come from the sky, Long not for the one who've lost their way," -This translates to,"be insightful or careful of people because they will surely fail, sooner or later. it's part of being Human. And the second verse would mean that don't fear the creator/God, but rather fear the ones that have lost their way. Because in reality even the Devil is not as horrible as what we Humans have done on our short period on Earth. "Arise as did the gods ninti, and ishkur, ishkur mother-fucker! Can you help me I don't know" -Arise as the gods, as if Adam and EVE actually turned into gods. Self aware, and able to think for themselves. And the last part is probably the trickiest. It maybe needs a comma. So it would be,"Can you help me, I don't know?! As if humanity cries out can you help me. And the "I don't know could be anything, the human conscience, God, the snake from the garden, etc. This is probably the best possible explanation, others can also give out great interpretations. But them again we are all giving out our own interpretations. |
