| Well, as songs go this one is definitely a sad one. I believe that Willie Nelsons version is the best, but to each there own. I have read that the writer originally was thinking of a preacher that is on the run from killing his wife but I just can't see that when I listen to it. Maybe I am a little jaded because my wife passed away just short of 2 years ago and when I listen to this song I see a man that has lost his love of his life and is thinking of the time that will be together again "in the land that knows no parting". | |
