| I see this song as being about, perhaps, the grieving process, accepting loss, giving oneself up to the inevitability of certain unpleasant things. In this, Winter is the emotions one has in reaction to an event, and the constant clinging to Summer, dragging him with them as they flee from her, is representative of distracting oneself from these feelings, refusing to face them, keeping them at bay. Eventually one's emotions become so intensified, and the false hope and platitudes so weakened, that it overflows and demands to be felt. This, in the end, is worse and far more violent than if one had simply surrendered Summer in the first place and allowed themself to experience Winter as she came in her own time. | |
