The chorus resonates with me. "Could you love somebody? Could you hold another's care above your bright lights? Could you open up your heart or you too uptight? Could you work to build something besides a wall? Could you love somebody, anyone at all?" After 14 years of moving around with military life, several 1-2 year failed relationships and inability to trust even my own mother putting a woman's heart before my own interests was impossible. I knew how to build a wall, and I got started on it before giving relationships a chance, and it cost me. I like to think I learned from it though, I'm better off today for losing her, I can love somebody and I can work to build something besides a wall. |
