I always get the image of two people, either best friends or perhaps (likely) lovers that have reached a point in time where their paths are about to take them in different directions and that the first person ("I" pronoun) is being encouraged by the other to "find faith in something other than [them]" (first stanza) The first person is unsure of where to go in life and/or the meaning of life after this change and wishes that the current moment could last forever (second stanza) The chorus expresses the first person's feelings about feeling lost and found in life and personal identity...like with any big life changes (be it from student to employee, single to partnered or back, new career etc) In the last verse it is a reflection on what was before and when everything started changing and how the person thought "the songs were sang" for the better, and that he or she will break down for everyone (if it will happen) (so that no one else has to??) Overall a catchy song that is easily one of my favourites from the album. |
