| @[Rbuzz:7524] I would agree, with one caveat: the flight isn't about suicide but rather, using the Suns gravity to jump to another star. Waters was also reading a lot of SciFi then, Aurthur C. Clarke in particular. Hence, the music slowly distorts as the ship is flung through time and space, only to resume once it reaches a new destination. | |

The Angels are television news anchors, the spaceships news helicopters. The lyrics are a snapshot in time: Police in riot gear raid an apartment with press in tow, only to find a young couple making love on the couch... Embarrassed cops realizing they got the address wrong and trying to shut down the news feed... A young man afraid of being "blessed" (shot)... News crew and TV reporters laughing at the colossal screw up... In the middle of it all a girl, realizing that she's on live to millions of people and that this is her "Andy Warhol" moment... |
