Holly Brook – Cellar Door Lyrics 10 years ago
I love this song. I think this song is about her finding herself - I think in an enlightened sort of way. The cellar door is her own self hiding her past, thoughts, memories, interpretations of herself so she is questioning herself wondering if she wants to open herself to her subconscious thoughts and habits and discover truths that haven't made themselves known to her yet. When she says 'overflowing underneath my pretty face' I think of a person having a million thoughts going through their head, but no ones knows because they can only see the surface. Underneath she is discovering herself and starting to question herself, 'the presence of haste' to me means she wants to just understand now. 'They say don't believe anything' - that could be her talking to herself or maybe her friends and family wondering why she's changing. And when she says I will not last very long I don't think she means her actual physical body, but rather her ego or this identity that she has made of herself... 'love will come to me and I will not remain'... reminds me of enlightenment thinking when you lose your "self" and know you are one with everything... and that is love.
