im not taking it out of context. you said you hoped they go back to their old style because "everyone liked" it. all i was trying to say is why should they go to what people like most? if you had said "i hope they go back because that was better" that's fine. all i was trying to say is that they shouldn't go to what is 'popular' bah. and YOU go eat a horses dick, cunt face.

like i said in "For a Bandaged Iris" i think on this cd a lot of the songs are about his dad, especially this one.

Poison the Well – For A Bandaged Iris Lyrics 21 years ago
no i think it's about his dad. i think a lot of the songs on this cd are about his dad. like on uhh "letters.." thats about his dad. and how he says "i guess the screaming it runs in the family" and notice how he is again talking about how he inherited his dads abilty to yell and what not. i think jeff creates a running theme about his dad throughouth the cd. i think many of the songs are written about his dad and his shittiness.

Poison the Well – Ghostchant Lyrics 21 years ago
oh man you are a TARD! (poison(the)well) i mean. "i really hope this was just a trial and they will be going back to there emo music which everyone liked." you are soo stupid! Bands are not supposed to play what the FANS want, the fans follow the band, not vice-versa you dumb fuck! if this is what PTW wants to do, then thats THEIR CHOICE! and you have NO fuckign right whatsoever to say "hey go back to this style you will have more fans" If you did, and they listened to you! i would slit my throat! If they did that, god you are stupid for saying that. it's their band not yours. and if you don't like their new style quit wishing they'd go back to their old stuff. its not your place. god. dumb fuck.

Poison the Well – Apathy Is A Cold Body Lyrics 21 years ago
*sigh* this new record is absolutely amazing, but i do have to agree their old stuff is awesome. but this cd is, i tihnk their best so far. they have just progressed so it's hard to compare. but i had a convo with this hc kid and we were talking about how "Distance" is prolly their best one, because of how important a cd to the HC scene it is. but i think that is what will happen with this one. it's a different style that hasn't really been evolved yet. i dunno. just my thoughts, either way all ptw stuff is amazingly gorgeous.

Planes Mistaken for Stars – Knuckle Hungry Lyrics 21 years ago
I think that like what Juliashope said, its about a dad, but i think the title Knuckle Hungry, kinda makes me think, like he's saying that he wants to get beat again, you know? like his dad used to beat him, and he, in a weird way, misses it. but that's just what i think.

Bright Eyes – The Calendar Hung Itself . . . Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the beggining of the song, first paragraph ^, is Conor singing to his ex, asking her if her new boyfriend does any of the stuff he did for/to her, and him just being like "what does HE have?" and talking about how much he misses her.

Then he's singing about how he tried to 'get away' from her, but he couldn't so he was dragging around her ghost. And as he would stop in each town he would only think of suicide, and finally in Chicago he figured it was the best thing to do, but he just couldn't do it. And here i picture him like in a fetal/sitting position with his head on his knees. And finally he decided not to do it, and he called her and sung, possibly, 'their' song.

then he's talking about how he tried to get away from her by dating other girls, but this girl was abused and so he couldn't deal with that, and she just reminded him of 'her' and the rest is more or less self-explanatory, just how he was writing in his diary about her, on a rainy day.

Finally he's singing about the clock, and he's singing about those clocks with the open middle, and the swinging part, talking about time, and the 'arms stretching' is possibly talking about 12 pm/am because the hands might be pointing up to be pointing at a calendar on a wall. And he's just singing about how he doesn't care that the days are leaving because more come. And he tried to escape time, by suicide, but it didn't work, hence "And they found me here and pulled me from the grass where I was laid."

That's just my take on this incredibly awesome song. It's possibly one of the BEST Bright Eyes songs. :-)

Bright Eyes – Something Vague Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song is all about Conor growing up. And in the beggining it's talking about depression when he says "now and again...the view is accurate" that whole line, because that's how it is when you are depressed, a lot of the time you see things much worse than what they really are, but a lot of the time YOU know how you should feel. He's also talking about the solitude of his life and the routine that it's become, and how he's resorted to drinking to pass the time.

The Second half about the dream, is a metaphor for his leaving home. Because it's talking about his family and a bridge, which relates to the support that his family gave him, and then when it 'disappears' it is equivalent to him leaving home, and moving into what he was singing about in the first half. I also think this section is about his 'fame'. Because he calls himself a star, hanging for the starving eyes, which may mean all the fans that 'starve' to be in his position.

The end of it is just him trying to shove aside the dream, and how it isn't really a dream, it's a 'feeling' which is inside of him, which IS him.

That's just my take on it, i know i'm probably wrong, but hey, what the hell is SongMeanings for anyways?

But this song is fucking incredible.
