| To me this song is set in a dystopian future (i can feel it when he talks about Metropolis, let me hear you make decisions without your television etc) where people are stuck in fakeness and appearances, and just really can't breathe. You can expect a love relationship to be very difficult in this environement, so the narrator asks the woman he loves to follow him out of this overwhelming Metropolis, back to the "land" (we can imagine it is somewhere in the country, far away from all the fuss of the city) where they can both breathe and love each other freely. | |

Everyone sees this song as if the narrator was talking to the person they love. What if the narrator is talking to us, the listeners ? So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Wherever you are in life, if its in a good place or not, stay close to your heart. Follow your instinct. Never lose yourself. Forever trusting who we are And nothing else matters Here, he tells us to always have trust in ourselves no matter what. If you believe in yourself, nothing can bring you down. Therefore, nothing else matters. Never opened myself this way Life is ours, we live it our way When you start believing in yourself you open yourself to the world. It seems you can attain every goal you want to achieve.Life is YOURS and you live it YOUR WAY. Again, no one can tell you what to do or how to live. All these words I don’t just say And nothing else matters The narrators tells you that he truly believes what he says. He doesn't just say it, he means it. Bellieve in him, because he believes in himself. That's an example of how believing in yourself can change the perception people have of you. And nothing else matters.
