"I Dig Love" incorporates a bit of the melody and words to the Shirelles' "Love is a Swingin' Thing", with the refrain "I dig love, it's a swingin' thing". (The Beatles had played this song in rehearsals for their Let It Be sessions.)

It was first recorded a couple of times by Doctor Ross, as "Cat Squirrel". (A cat squirrel is a southeastern US name for a gray squirrel.) Yes, it has actual words.

Later Cream and Jethro Tull did instrumental takes and altered the title slightly. The main riff was used by Crosby, Stills etc. for "Carry On".
