I wanted to add this song and many others since the band just uploaded all their lyrics on their page, but someone had anticipated me lol. Didn't know these guys were already so well known. By the way, these are the most interesting amongst their lyrics imho, and I guess there should be a reason why the video for this song is the only one to be driven by a storyline (maybe it being some sort of "anthem" for the band, judging by the title). To me this song is against different stereotypes that are somewhat hated by the singer. We have lazy people that don't have the guts to fulfill their dreams "you wipe out the dust from your dreams just to draw back when it's time to start", that will die with regret just like "the dead" that made their same mistakes when he was alive. We have people that criticize and "look down on" other people "without clues". The chorus is pretty enigmatic to say the least, and it somewhat links with the intro. The singer talks about someone that "tears him down". Someone has done something bad to him, and maybe he could be the same one he relates to during the choruses. The same one that let him down, and that doesn't care about him right now. I guess generally speaking we can consider the chorus to be some sort of call for help. The only contrasting part is the bridge ("Just call me..."). The singer shows self awareness here, and now he "doesn't care" just like the guy in the chorus does. Maybe this song is meant to show different life stages the singer went through, namely believing, disillusionment, growth and self awareness. If you think about it it's a pretty accurate depiction of adolescence. |
