Tanita Tikaram – Twist In My Sobriety Lyrics 10 years ago
It can not be very obvious to the whole world, that 'pig' should need to be an invective. However, there's a common (English) call : 'male chauvinist pig' in which the former seems to be a crucial tag. There's been some jestful discussion about this, with my family, after one party had encountered some specimen of the human kind. He must have been, what we now call : 'male chauvinist', stating that we couldn't find anything too loathfull in the word chauvinist either. Set aside the man for a moment ... apparently sometimes people would want to use 'male' as an invective. In regards to the song, "they" would want to use 'female' like that. But what she says rather comes down to : 'female chauvinist pig'. Let's suggest that chauvinism could be at stake in this song, tactically hurting the animals' feelings no longer ... I might just have known 'female chauvinism' in a form that goes : 'Don't you believe, you can look for one bit into my soul'. Where, according to us, a male of the kind would go : 'You'd better believe, my soul is going to hit it far and wide'. What Tanita seems to have meant is : 'hey, there are different types of females, but only one that's capable of going through most turbulent emotions'. The latter would of course have to mean herself. It'd be a double and thereby realistic message, because she'd be holding it up, like she couldn't be bothered (...). The fun thing, I think, about regaining individuality as depicted in the song, is a) totally remaining in that field with the other! animals and b) leaving sex be also! gender-regardless.
