| Edwin McCain – Prayer To St. Peter Lyrics

Actually, while Edwin McCain did not actually find the letter, the information from Bob, below is very accurate, and it was written during WWII. As some of you referenced, this song seems to cover the gamut. My father served as a pilot in Vietnam twice, and thank God he returned, but what he saw changed his life. War is so brutal, as are the all too familiar domestic acts of violence this song fits them all. I had a chance to talk to his guitarist about this song, it was clear the importance is not lost on this group. It is one of the first McCain songs I learned to play. |

| Lyle Lovett – Closing Time Lyrics

I absolutely love this song. Most "last call" songs are written for the patrons (Semi-sonic or Buffett), but this is aimed at the bar employees. As a student at Clemson in the late '70's early '80's you lived for Friday and Saturday nights (at least) and it was like a huge street party every night. It was magic. Of course, if you were like me, more likely than not you got caught at closing time. Immediately after adjusting your eyes when the lights come on you realized 2 things... 1, all the women were gone and it was you and your crew and a couple of other losers in the other corner. 2. The place was wrecked. So while everyone headed to the pizza joint, the employees still had hours of work left so the next night was just as magic. Great job of capturing the reality of how hard those folks work..... fill those tip jars!!! |

| Styx – Dear John Lyrics

I first heard this song years ago and was in tears when it was over. To this day, I still feel the same way. Despite all the drama in Styx, it seemed like John and his twin brother Chuck just stayed the course and kept the band tight. What a great tribute. |
