i always felt that this song was about drugs, it seemed logical since fugazi was a straight edge band. they were pretty casual about it, nothing like minor threat. so the first bit is simple, "i never thought about dying before", the realization of death after years of drug abuse. you're finally getting it, you've been poisoning yourself for years. then the next part is the guy speaking to another drug abuser, or just people who abuse drugs in genral. "you've got your hands over your ears" saying you don't want to listen. who does you get your high, and thats it. but your just fooling yourself, telling yourself its natural, or you can stop at any time. finally it say i want a cure, i want to be rid of this addiction. there has to be a pill or a shot or something to relieve the burning. |

this song is all about homeless people and how you see them on the streets and they are basically in hell but you go home and try to forget with some tv but that just makes it worse because you have the convert of watching tv. all in all its just a statement about how richer people dehumanize the poor saying there dirty and no good while they are just human beings to begin with |

ok this song is pretty simple, its about school. its about how they tell you to do shit but if you dont do well in school or something your choices and your future become very dim. the first bit "I know that things are getting tougher when you cant get top off from the bottom of the barrel wide open road of my future now... " is about how you can't do anything right even though you have the potential to and thus it lessens your choices for your future then it goes on to say how adults tell you have to decide what you want to do but you just dont know, and it repeats after that |

i feel this song is about someone who has social anxiety or something, the first verse is about waking up obviously and if you do have social anxiety the safest place to you is your house and you would count every second in it before you have to go outside then the next part is about how you go outside and see the thing you are terrified of, people. "Feeling under covers like books on a shelf" this is saying you hide under your covers like a closed book on a shelf. then it goes on to say how if your scared of people you are then scared of yourself. the it goes on to say no people are not a crowd and something to fear, and maybe people should gather instead now the final bit talks about how you drink to relieve your anxiety, then the line "Of product and demand when you feel like a wasp in the swarm You gotta get away anyway that you can" is saying when you feel like surround you try to run and hide anyway you can |
