| @[Nairanna:8824] I definitely agree with you. This song is obviously about drowning to death. IThe lyric is actually "Cathedral where you cannot breathe, no need to pray, no need to speak", which makes a little more sense. Also, I don't think the pressure is about the pessures of life, but the physical pressure at the bottom of the ocean. Drowning is a pretty painful way to die. | |

@[kelso_b:8823] I agree completely. These lyrics particularly reflect that : Though the pressure's hard to take It's the only way I can escape It seems a heavy choice to make But now I am under all The pressure isn't about the pessures of life, but the physical pressure at the bottom of the ocean. Drowning is a pretty painful way to die. Even though it's hard, she feels that dying is the only way she can escape her depression. It's a big decision, but she's already underwater. |

Turn her over (I always took this to mean that in some way Jessicka had her friend admitted to a mental hospital, as in she "turned her over" into their care") A candle is lit, I see through her (I think the candle is metaphorical. Shedding some light on her friend's depression, Jessicka sees it clearly for what it is) Blow it out and save all her ashes for me (Jessicka thinks that the mental hospital will fix her friend's depression and then she can just have her friend back; it's a selfish idea) Curse me sold her the poison that runs its course through her pale white skin with strawberry gashes all over (Looking back, Jessicka now knows that admitting her friend into the hospital only made things worse, and she feels guilty. Saying that Jessicka "sold her the poison" is her way of saying she may as well have killed her friend. She is blaming herself for furthering things along.) Chorus: Watch me fault her You're living like a disaster She said kill me faster with strawberry gashes all over (I think the chorus is pretty straight-forward, and it looks like an excerpt of a conversation they had together: Jessicka critsizes her friend, "You're living like a disaster". Her friend says "Kill me faster" in response, implying that pointing out her flaws isn't helping. Now Jessicka feels guilty because that's not something she should have said. "Watch me fault her" means that she's to blame, she is at fault for her friend's death, at least in her own opinion) Called her over And asked her if she was improving She said feels fine it's wonderful wonderful here (Jessicka goes to visit her friend at the hospital. Either her friend is being sarcastic with the "feels fine" and "it's wonderful here" comments, or she is lying to make it seem like she is improving) Hex me told her I dreamt of a devil that knew her pale white skin with strawberry gashes all over all over (I'm not entirely sure how to interpret this part. Obviously, the "Hex me" bit is Jessicka feeling guilty again for something, but the devil could be interpreted in a lot of ways. Whatever it was, she shouldn't have said it, because it sent her friend into a relapse of self-mutilation) Chorus (which we already covered) I lay quiet waiting for her voice to say "Some things you lose and some things you just give away" (I would say that at this point in the song, Jessicka's friend has already died. Jessicka is laying in bed, grieving, and remembering the hopelessness and utter defeat her friend was feeling when she said "some things you lose, and some things you just give away". Perhaps this was something her friend said often) Scold me failed her If only I'd held on tighter to her Pale white skin that twisted and withered away from me away from me (Jessicka is blaming herself for her friend's death. She thinks that if she had tried harder to reach her friend, she could have prevented her suicide, despite the fact that her friend was pulling away from her.) Watch me lose her It's almost like losing myself Give her my soul and let them take somebody else get away from me (By this point, her friend is definitely dead. She is grieving. "It's almost like losing myself" implies how close they were and how upset she is. She feels as if she ma as well have died instead. Jessicka is grieving in a very typical way: Bargaining her own life for her friend's. "Take me instead", basically. Bargaining is the 4th stage of grief. The "Get away from me" bit, in my interpretation, is to show that she is inconsolable and just wants to be alone.) Chorus: In summary, this song is about a girl who's friend was depressed, self-harming and eventually commited suicide. The girl feels guilty that she didn't do more to help. She blames herself for her friend'sdeath, and this song is her reflection of everything she did wrong. Thanks for reading! |
