Love this song. I guess it’s about growing up and accepting adulthood from the “post teen” days. Especially when it comes to love, Jamie T understands there’s so much room for improvement. Love and long term relationships, instead of the short term relationships or one night stands. His only worry is growing up too fast and becoming a Zombie. I may be right or wrong but either way this is one class tune. |

For me when I hear this song it's about a reflection on life. How when we are young things can be fun and joyful but in adult hood things can go so wrong in many ways. But we all get one shot at this life and we must face our demons. Doing so will help bring the brighter days back and put our lives back on track. The heavy, loud "never want to die" bit is realising the above and without inner strength and determination only you can do this. I love this song so much, it has a special meaning for me based on a personal issue. |

Love this song, the Housemartins were brilliant. I think this song is about the rat race in London in the 80s with launch of the City Yuppies on the Stock Exchange. Living the high life, high pace, highly paid, all Green for Go. I doubt Paul Heaton being a northern lad would have liked this new generation of human being, not the everyday working class. |
