The song isn't a chick flick... None of Linkin Park's songs have to do with "relationships" with another person. The way you use the word "relationship" is broad. However I believe that you intended to imply that he was a lover of another person. Which is incorrect. It is clear that he had a fight with a person. But in the song he is reminiscing on a past event where a person said to him "That you get what you deserve", and his response to the event he remembered was "SO GIVE ME REASON, TO PROVE ME WRONG". Because the person was not giving a reasonable explanation as of why he was wrong. Just that he was wrong about whatever they were arguing about. This argument could have been with anybody. |

The song is about a personal discovery of reason. And your voice was all I heard, that I get what I deserve. "SO GIVE ME REASON, TO PROVE ME WRONG, TO WASH THIS MEMORY CLEAN." A person needs to have already acquired "REASON" in order to construct such a statement. Reason Definition: the power of the mind to think, understand, and form judgements logically. "I remembered black skies The lightning all around me I remembered each flash As time began to blur Like a startling sign That fate had finally found me" The person who wrote the song is describing their own discovery of reason as rebirth. "There was nothing in sight But memories left abandoned There was nowhere to hide The ashes fell like snow" The person who wrote this song sees their memories as unjustified events. Based on some premise of logic. One premise of logic could be that "killing people is a waste of resources". Or that "fighting about a menial thing is a waste of energy". Another completely different premise of logic could be that "The Strong Survive." However what makes a country strong is their ability to work together, hence making that premise incorrect. The person who said "that you get what you deserve." must have said that before the song was conceived. The song would of been a sudden realization as of why the writer and their statement was correct. And an understanding that "reason" is required to deter whether something is correct or incorrect. Hence making the person who said "that you get what you deserve" to be incorrect in whatever argument they had based on the writer's premise of reason. |
