My dad also used to sing this as a lullaby. When my parents were separating, he would sing this song and John Denver's 'Leaving on a Jet Plane'. It was way of saying sorry I guess. Now I can't hear this song without crying, it's such a bittersweet song. |

I agree with the idea that it is about separation. However, I think the line "go chase your dragon and I'll chase mine" could possibly reference their inner demons and the couple's struggle with being in a relationship whilst dealing with their own turmoil.. Just a thought really.. |
