| Jump, Little Children – Broken Lyrics | 2 years ago |

@[robeson:48102] Context? I have perhaps placed this song into at least two contexts that might just have been of my own interpretation. Context number one: This man was OK with all of the political crap, there was nothing he could do about it, but then there was her. Only her. He was broken by the bend and the sway of her, He was broken by the give and take of her, and when he was with her, everything else just faded into grey. The other meaning, the one that just occurred to me, this is not a love song. This is a song about politics and about people accepting what they have been given in spite of and perhaps knowing of the cost to others. |

| Metric – Help, I'm Alive Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| I Think this song is about surviving in a capitalist world. Nothing is ever certain except for the established rules, and no one can ever be certain in their position. Everything is about capital and every life is expendable. Confidence and self-worth can be earned up to a point, but neither are never guaranteed. | |

| I think this song is about surviving in a capitalist world. Nothing is ever certain, not even the rules we are supposed to play by. Any understanding of wealth or security we might hold are subject to the whims of a society that is bigger than any one of us!\n"If I stumble, they\'re gonna\' eat me alive..."\nYes, they will if you do.\nAny one of us is up to our ears in all of this and any one of us could be left in the gutter as shark bate if we do not keep up.\nIt\'s basically a song about Darwinism. More precisely, about the fear of Darwinism. | |

| Natalie Imbruglia – Pigeons And Crumbs Lyrics | 5 years ago |

updown Maybe it's just about getting past one love interest with the hope of soon finding another! We are all little more than crumbs in the bigger picture! Maybe the pigeons are just a manifestation of everyone trying to feed on us! All with there own needs, there own longings, there own desires, there own personas, Ideals, intentions, perversions, fetishes and maybe the best we can hope for is that some predatory person will come along that shares some of these identities with us? Perhaps if the right person with compatible longings and desires comes along everything will be OK? We are all predatory because we all want something, perhaps we even think we need something. Perhaps two predatory people that happen to share some bizarre and unimaginable coalescence of needs. longings, desires and intentions will somehow find each other and end up being two of the lucky ones among so many other far-flung and scattered crumbs! All of those far-flung and scattered crumbs being little more than "Pigeon Fodder!" Flaggedscott78833on October 20, 2015 |

| Men Without Hats – The Safety Dance Lyrics | 7 years ago |
|
I believe that the intended title was, or should have been "safe to dance," not "safety dance!" This was a song written in the "could war era" and within living memory of the "Nazi regime!" Is it safe to dance? Is it ever? This could easily be correctly interpreted or miss-interpreted as a song about youthful angst or alienation. Perhaps just a song about feeling isolated in a youth culture and feeling afraid to express ones self. Within this context many people might feel alienated and thus be afraid to express their own individuality or even their own belonging to a smaller subculture outside of the more popular one. This song could also be interpreted to have a much deeper cultural meaning and significance. Perhaps the point of view of a Jew living in Nazi Europe and feeling afraid to dance or celebrate his or her culture under fear of persecution? I truly believe that this song was absolutely intended to have a significant meaning and then some record exec' thought "hey, lets make this a dance thing and sell it for a million bucks!" And then, in come the cheerleaders! SSSS-AAAA-FFFF-EEEE-TTTT-YYYY... |

I think the religious overtones are purely symbolic and metaphorical. I think he feels as if through his songwriting he has exposed himself and feels completely naked and feels as if he is thus being used by industry for profit. |

| Alanis Morissette – Uninvited Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I have been the victim of sexual harassment in the work place and I certainly never invited that. I was a young guy in my early thirties who had never had any luck with dating and thus I was still a virgin. All of a sudden a devastatingly beautiful woman in her early twenties was added to the staff. That was fine. I thought she seemed nice and as I was getting to know her I liked her. Then all of a sudden she started hitting on me. Talking openly about having sex in past relationships and talking about how her ex-boyfriend was totally in the past and then inviting me out for drinks after work. Of course I couldn't morally date this woman because she was 15 years younger. So I backed away and resisted and yet in spite of that I fell hopelessly in love, in need, in want of her. After that she didn't hit on me anymore but she often came into work talking about having sex with other guys. Ultimately through the advice of a therapist I just quit that job were I had worked for 15 years and settled for a Lower paying job somewhere else. I just had to! I just couldn't go on surviving in that environment! I certainly never envited any of that but that was what I got. | |
| Matchbox Twenty – Unwell Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I think ths song could easily be about unrequited love! Unrequited love can certainly lead to various forms of mental illness one of which is depression! This is especially applicable if it happens in the workplace witch makes it almost inescapable! One day you are a straight up successful whose life has hope and meaning and the next day you are just a mess! When it starts to happen you are just a single successful person with the realization that your new found success is a cause for hope! The next beautiful person you meet just might be the one! You have worked so hard to find yourself and find a foothold in this complicated world and you have arrived! Then just after realizing you have worked so hard to be where you are you find yourself falling inlove again just like so many times before but in spite of all of your accomplishments it just falls apart again before it even begins! Why! Maybe because in spite f all of your accomplishments your still not the sexy jockstrap? | |

| Semisonic – Secret Smile Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| It reminds me of a really amazing wonderful beautiful woman I used to work with! I always thought she was amazing and related well with her. we were "work friends" and never anything more. I never had a crush on her and she never hit on me or anything like that but the way she used to smile at me! Some of those smiles are some of my best memories! It was as if she could see right through me and she liked me in spite of, or perhaps even because of it! | |
