| Gavin Rossdale – Love Remains the Same Lyrics | 10 years ago |

To me, when I hear this song, it's about a guy who really loves a girl. He didn't realize it or mean to, but he'd been really difficult in some way....unwilling to compromise on something important, accidentally taking her for granted, being selfish ...etc ...all accidental ways of hurting her...and she either left him or told him things need to change. He is now faced with decisions. She's brought something out of him he didn't even know was there ...he never realized til now, that as much as he thought he'd given to the relationship, there was more to give, and he HAD more to give. He never knew it until he was put in such a place for it to become evident to him. It's a wake up call. He has to grow up/step up to the plate/make a much needed change to keep the woman he loves. She's "pushing him so far" in terms of what she's asking for ...but he NEEDS to be pushed that far, it's good and right for him. And she's the only one who could give him the push he needs. "Drink to all that we have lost, mistakes we have made" : has to do with all they've been thru in their lives separately and together that got them to where they are today.. "Love remains the same" : they love each other all the same...like they always did, like they always will, despite what they've been through. When he's searching for her in a bar ...after they fought/broke up/talked she went to a bar, he doesn't know which one, but after he thought about things and it hit him that he can't lose her and what he must do to keep her ...he has to hunt her down and talk to her. Someone told him they spotted her downtown or she told him she was going out ...etc ...and he goes looking for her. For me at least ... it's about a guy realizing it's time to take the next step in a relationship ...proposing, etc. He realizes he's losing her, it clicks in him it's time to man up and claim her and he realizes more than ever thst he needs her and despite what he originally thought - when placed I'm this situation of losing her - he has more in him to give to her in order to keep her. |

| Manchester Orchestra – 100 Dollars Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I interpret it in my own personal way. For me, it's about a girl who moved from far away to be with him and made the sacrifices necessary to move away from home for him. The guy works hard for his money and doesn't have a lot to spare in terms of spending. He splurged on a puppy for her and presented her the puppy in the kitchen in an effort to make things feel more home-y for her. He doesn't want to admit it to her because he wants her to be happy and feel at home, but inside he knows he couldn't afford the dog and is unsure of how he will pay his bills etc ...hence the desperately needing 100 dollars from everyone. He repeats to himself that he's fine but really he's a little stressed. I think the magazines and picture thing is maybe literal or even metaphoric in that she is looking in other places to find happiness now, it is not him alone anymore that solely makes her happy, and he notices this. And it's totally fine and healthy not to put all your happiness in one person but he's just realizing that her being away from home is a new adjustment and her happiness in a new place is not a quick fix that he can make happen all on his own but he's trying his best. "The understanding" to me refers to her telling him he has to understand that this is all new for her and she gave up alot, and may even refer to the desire for him to propose after she moved all this way for him, and maybe he is not ready yet, and she is upset by this, hence the reason he called and she didn't answer, and he doesn't get why she wants a proposal right now as opposed to later, and then that wraps back around to him getting her the puppy to make her feel at home, him being broke because of it, and him wanting to make her happy but altogether avoiding the proposal, and feeling even more shitty in relation to that because he wonders how he could even be a good husband and provide if he can't even afford a dog without being broke. So altogether he feels insufficient. Yes I have a very deep mind and this is my interpretation of this short song! Haha | |
