IMHO the song meaning is much more stark supported by the music itself. This is saying that in his relationship with the other person, he has been habitually foolish and cruel. For some unspoken reason he can't even remember his evil deeds (possibly because he was drunk or drugged and not able to remember), Philosophically, he is nihilistic and says it doesn't matter at all, because love and life themselves don't matter. But worst of all, from the beginnig of time or perhaps creation, their tragic relationship was meant to be. |
