| Newton Faulkner – Gone In The Morning Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I think this song is about feelings basically. He doesn't want his feelings to go away for this particular person, he wants to go 'where dreams like rivers flow' and he is gonna 'take off his shoes' in this beautiful dreamland. Then he comes back to a world where alarm needs needs to go off for warnings. When he will realise that the alarm has gone off, that his feelings or her feelings are dwindling and the excitement is going away from their relationship, he 'just won't go'. Now he is asking 'won't you come with me' and won't you have fun before our relationship or friendship ends in other words 'before they are gone in the morning'. He wants to understand the nature of love why 'they are gone in the morning', why they are transitory. He feels a bit paranoid and alien, that is why he will 'learn all kinds of kung foo' so that he can ward off the forces which will try to take away his feelings, he is even 'gonna to live inside a tiny zoo' to protect his feelings. He understands the futility of it all. So he asks again "Won't you come with me' now while it lasts, before a day when I wake up in the morning and all my feelings for you are gone or your feeling for me are gone for that matter. He kinda accepts the fact now and says 'I don't mind what's in store' for us, I don't mind if we'll be together or not in the future. Let's just make this time, a 'sweet time'. If I am alone sometime in the future, it's okay. In my opinion these lyrics comes of out a thorough awareness of the ultimate fate of his relationship and relationships in general, the fickle nature of our hearts and a deep emotional attachment to the person at that moment in time. | |
