| R.E.M. – Radio Song Lyrics | 5 years ago |

I thought the song was a reference to political efforts to get warning labels and restrictions on music with offensive content. It's saying you could just turn it off, laughing at arguments that offensive music teaches children "sex and violence classes". The narrator says he hate some song, tries unsuccessfully to turn it off, and curses the DJ. |

| David Rovics – I Have Seen the Enemy Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| I like the sound of the song, but the meaning is very clear and is very wrong. It was a protest song when President Bush was moving to invade and occupy Iraq. The song calls for assassinating the president. That method of political change leads to gangs of people murdering leaders they don't like. Moreover the drone strikes and occupations did not end when President Obama was elected. This sound has a nice sound to it, but its message is evil. If this song had inspired someone to commit a murder, Rovics would have it on his conscience. | |
| The Streets – Hotel Expressionism Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I think he's saying he gets bored staying in hotel and wants to trash it. He having a bad day, and he says he enjoys trashing the hotel rooms more than his actual job. He says in intentionally stilled language that he's different from rock stars from the previous generation who trashed hotel rooms, which means he's not really that different. So the whole thing is a joke: "When I feel like my job sucks, I trash the hotel and then rationalize that I'm not just some jerk who trashes hotel rooms. " |
