I first heard this song as a teenager shortly after my father drowned. I knew immediately it was about a similar loss. It's a very beautiful haunting song. |

Such a beautiful sad song. The entire album has a narrative arc that begins with the first line of the first song All I Want: "I am on a lonely road and I am traveling." She is wants happiness, encouraging would be lovers. Towards the end of the album, she says goodbye frequently. And then comes this finale where she expresses her determination to remain a romantic, get her gorgeous wings and fly away, in spite of the pain, and not lead a life of cynical desperation like Richard. All good dreamers pass this way. |
