I'm not going to analyze the entire song, I'm just going to add my thoughts on a particular line from the song. I threw my crutches in "the river of a shadow of doubt" I thought this was an interesting line. If he's throwing his crutches, it might mean that he has recovered, in this context it would be in reference to religion. He has escaped the grasps of religion which could be seen as recovering from a disability. Another factor that supports this is the rest of the line. "the river of a shadow of doubt". I believe that "the river of a shadow of doubt" is his view on religion. He doubted that it was true, and to finish off, his metaphorically, recovered and threw the beliefs away forever. This is probably pretty dumb from everyone else's perspective, but oh well. I just thought it was a fun idea. |

Obviously this is related to "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head" seeing as it says "Poppin' out of holes" and "Falling out of aeroplanes". But I'm just going to transfer my journal notes to this. "Spitting out the demons" may be in reference to Demon Days somehow seeing as D-Sides is basically an extension of Demon Days in a way. Or it could be talking about Albarn's old H habit. He quit for his family not because he knew it was bad for him, but still, it must've been hard for him. Spitting out the "demons" in his life for his family. Also "Come on it won't hurt me" can be referencing drug withdrawl. Just a sidenote, the lyrics saying "Come on it won't hurt me" sound different (live especially) if you start spacing out. I heard "The devil, he won't help me." Which made too much sense for me to ignore it completely. Listen to it and tell me where I fucked up and where I gave good info. Thank you! |

| I'm not going to go into to detail, but I think that this song is about how the government is destroying us and distracting us so they can be more powerful. We are distracted by things like cellphones which make us "feel good". But our happiness is only ephemeral because we will soon be affected directly. And also the lyric "And all I wanna hear is the message beep." Explains my theory on how we obsess over cellphones. When we get messages it excites us, controls us even. Call me a prick or an idiot. I don't give a fuck. Those are my thoughts on the song. | |

I'm a fucking idiot but my interpretation of the song is, for lack of a better word, literal. So let's get started, eh? "People People Everybody People Everybody making a sound" This might have to do with overpopulation. But that just makes it seem like I'm pulling it out of my ass. So just take it into consideration. But judging by the music video it's probably about people's obsessions with technology and that it's obnoxious. "People People Everybody People Everybody standing their ground" I'm going to just skim through this because it's similar to the first part. People are stubborn and arrogant, obviously... Feel free to criticize me. "You dream through the top You'll be over the edge If you get in our side You'll be taking a pitch You'll be loving a lot But you don't know why It's the time of the day So we're never inside Your heart isn't there So you might as well say I know it I got it But I know that time will set me together" This is extremely straight forward in calling out on probably most hipsters and fakes in our little nice world. A lot of hipsters do what they do because they feel the need to be unique (unless your an original hipster, OH if you will. Or if you won't...), and fakes do what they do to try and fit in. So it's just telling them how pathetic they are basically. And then it repeats. So yeah. If you comment "You're a fucking idiot" I won't blame you. I agree. |
