| I think this song is about self-doubt and insecurity. | |

| The whole album is supposed to be about going after the unattainable. I imagine this song is about not knowing how to react to someone. Although, it kind of reminds me of Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (Coming Home)", and David Bowie's "Space Oddity" as someone having the belief they're not escaping the death-trap in space. | |

| Also, just to add, I think this also might be referring to Geisha, which while not fake - are definitely there for nothing more than to entertain in return for money. | |

I think this is probably referring to a someone fascinated with (most likely) the ideal Japanese girl. The person doesn't quite seem to understand the fact that this ideal is nothing more than myth and is unrealistic and finds themselves tricked by a girl using her charms and looks to get what she wants from this person. She seems to also seems to be indirect and ambiguous to the person, which may not be entirely her fault due to Japanese culture. It also seems to be portraying that her doing this is inevitable to the person. Also in the part "Many has tried to get near her Deep in the heart of Tokyo Found nothing there but a mirror She's no one you'll ever know" I think, refers to her being nothing but a myth still and that many have tried to find someone close to this unrealistic ideal, but only found merely a reflection of the ideal in this fake girl. They're also warning other people looking for this unrealistic ideal, that trying to find it is just a waste of time. |
