| The Divine Comedy – Gin Soaked Boy Lyrics | 10 years ago |

I've just been fortunate enough to stumble upon Neil Hannon and his genius (hey, I'm American), and this is a fave. Pure poetry. How many verses do you suppose he concocted before settling on a finished product? Whaddya say to . . . I’m the mirror’s image, cracked I’m the fiction sold as fact I’m the sinner’s saving grace I’m the spider spinning lace I’m the ninth life in the cat I’m the vampire in the bat I’m the blade’s unkindest cut I’m the purebred in the mutt I’m the tea leaves in the brew I’m the horse parts in the glue I’m the newborn babe’s first breath I’m the chess match played with death I’m the used-car salesman’s ploy I’m the gin in the gin-soaked boy ;) |
