I'm thinking the title corresponds to Christianity's Night Of Darkness (darkening of the soul). It's about how even God's brightest followers hit a devastating "ceiling of brass" with their prayers, particularly when struggling to reform this inarguably corrupted planet of ours for the better. The songwriter is telling us he's ready to fight past that ceiling of brass; our hopelessness in this life. True reform will never happen. We need to scrap the current system and pimp-slap any punks that have a problem with that. Together. Enough is enough. I'd carry that weight with Phil any day. On march the saints! |
