Foster the People – Broken Jaw Lyrics 10 years ago
I couldn't find any primary sources for the song meaning, but the lyrics are pretty easy to understand once you think about it.

This song is about having someone there to help you when you've made a mistake, said something wrong, or just plain messed up.

In the first verse, Mark points out the mistake he had made, Being a "broken jaw" (possibly meaning he lied about something or slipped the trust of somebody and sold them out or something along those lines.) This is re-confirmed as he says "I don't know anything but then I act like I know everything"

Then it is him denying or running away from his problems as the line "Don't want to talk about it" pops up. But his problems still catch up to him with "Well I have been broke down from my enemies" symbolising a feeling a hopelessness.

The Chorus has a message along the same lines as he tries to dig himself out of the pit only to "come back down"

The second verse is his friend/lover/acquaintance trying to help him or is trying to find what's wrong while Mark hides his feelings even though it's pointless with the lines "Smile through, I choke inside, yea I've been hiding with nothing to hide"

'Sometimes you find yourself waiting
waiting for someone
To come around and it's hopeless
Hoping to be found
Then it arrives and says "you're perfect my love"'

The beginning of the bridge refers to Mark feeling that he has nobody to rely on and that it's "Hopeless, hoping to be found" And then that someone comes and
"heal my broken jaw" referring to actually fixing the problem and the line "You're still my hero" means that the person sees Mark as their hero.
