| Taylor Swift – White Horse Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
God, I love this song. Sometimes you build someone up in your mind so much that they stand on a white horse. You love what you imagine more than you love the actual person. The whole first part of the song represents what she thought and reality. And then he wants her back. But she's been thinking, and he doesn't stand on a white horse anymore. She believes she can find more, not by dreaming of white horses or finding someone that meets her impossible standards, but by stepping out into the world that once seemed like a fairy tale and creating her own real world. |

| Taylor Swift – Breathe Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| This song is sad and mournful, all the lyrics are breathless, you just lose yourself in the memories, all with a sad assurance that it is gone. But a recurring lyric is "But I have to". That lyric helped me the most. You have to keep breathing. You contradict yourself, I can't but I have to. Just sorta saying that you are doing the impossible by breathing without this person. And if you can breathe, then you can recover. | |
| Taylor Swift – Fearless Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I feel like this song is less about the boy she's in love with, and more about the feeling. She has had her heart broken so many times, yet this song is about love. And the title is fearless. I feel like she is sort of referring to the fearfulness that your love will die eventually, but in that moment she is fearless. "Take this moment now capture it remember it." And love is fearless, you go into it and "I might get hurt" rests in the back of your mind. But love is trusting fate, and being fearless, and hoping. When love first happens, it happens moment by moment, and you don't care if you end up scarred or anything, you aren't thinking about that, you're thinking about that person and how you feel when you're with them. You are fearless. You aren't living in the future. You are alive in that moment. And you are more alive then ever before. |

| Taylor Swift – Shake It Off Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| @[RBLIL:5569] I love all those songs. But have you heard Clean. I might like old Taylor better, but I feel like her approach to music is softer and more adult like, full of emotion in the same way, but different. Shake It Off is an exception. Its a kind of spontaneous outburst, and it is beautiful. Not like a rainy, hopeful song she used to write, but a bright, simple, excited song. Beauty takes many forms, and if you were ever a true swiftie, you would respect what she's doing now. | |
| Neko Case – A Widow's Toast Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
It's a song about loss. The specter of the person she lost is a pilot flame to her very being. She feels the hope of each new day being better but is still lost in the sorrow of her lost, because she refuses to believe that these can be better times when that person is gone. She illustrates this with her description of the tears. The widows are toasting, and one raises her glass and vows to find the truth again. But the next line refuses to believe that you can find the truth again. It goes faster than you. Faster than gravity, which paints the picture of it going while you attempt to move. The truth also serves as a synonym for love, because you see the truth when you fall in love, but it always slips away. The chorus ends with the hopeful note of "better times are coming still". The specter will move like a pilot flame and drive them on to better times. |

| Neko Case – People Got A Lotta Nerve Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
To me, this song is a sort of hopeless anthem of those who can't control their emotions. People try to save them, but just end up getting hurt in the process. The animals know they are long gone and will hurt the people who attempt to help them, and they don't want optimistic people who believe in the movies hurting themselves trying to save them. You can just give up now. This is who I am. It's like, when someone, is depressed, and they've been depressed their whole life, they can find a sort of hope in the fact that they know who they are, and they are the sort of person that can sit and watch the world because they prefer to be alone. And when someone finds them that believes in the world, and believes they can be fixed, they try to bring them back to the unbroken world, but being broken is who they are, and they can't be brought back by words. |
