This song is about loving the kind of music that you like and not caring about what other people think about it. Sometimes people try to criticize your tastes ("They try to tell us we don't belong") for various reasons (in this case, heavy, glamorized rock). Back then, KISS was probably criticized for their over-theatricality and heavy music and labelled by some people as meaningless garbage. But KISS ignored them ("I don't hear the rap that they all say") because they had a strong fan base and were clearly doing something right.
