Maroon 5 – Misery Lyrics 10 years ago
I seem to be great at finding negative interpretations to songs, but this is one way to look at the song.

This could be about a suicidal man, who is in a relationship with someone he loves completely, but she has left him alone when he really needs her.

(So scared of breaking it, that you won't let it bend. And I wrote two hundred letters I will never send) He is scared of stating his raw feelings because he is afraid it might break their relationship, and that his love won't just let the relationship "bend" instead of "break". He's wrote many suicide notes, but he could never bring himself to "send" them, or go through with it, because he didn't want to leave her.

(Sometimes these cuts are so much deeper then they seem. You'd rather cover up, I'd rather let them bleed) The figurative and literal cuts are much deeper than they seem. He could self harm, but they don't look as bad as they really are so his love doesn't pay as much attention to them as she should. His mental cuts and wounds could just come from her lack of attention and his insecurities.

(I am in misery, there ain't nobody who can comfort me. Why won't you answer me? The silence is slowly killing me) He is alone, or they are together but she isn't saying anything/ignoring him, and so he is in misery. There isn't anybody who can make him feel better except her, and even that may not work. He has asked for her to come to him/wants her to say something, so he is wondering why she won't come/answer him. The silence is killing him.

(Girl you really got me bad, you really got me bad. I'm gonna get you back gonna get you back) She possibly dumped him, and he feels horrible, but he decides he is going to try and get her back to him.

(Your salty skin and how it mixes in with mine. The way it feels to be completely intertwined) Her skin could be salty from tears, either hers or his.

(It's not that I didn't care, it's that I didn't know. It's not what I didn't feel, it's what I didn't show) This part could be from her, saying it's not that she didn't care, she just didn't know how much he was hurting, and that it's not that she didn't really care for him or feel bad, she just hid her feelings for whatever reason. This could have been said when he confronts her about her leaving.

(You say your faith is shaken, you may be mistaken. You keep me wide awake and waiting for the sun) She says her faith is shaken and that he may be mistaken. She keeps him "wide awake" and waiting for the "sun" that could just be an end to the depression.

(I'm desperate and confused, so far away from you. I'm getting there, don't care where I have to run) He is desperate and confused while away from her. He's either going to get to the end of his depression, or he's going to get to her.

(Why do you do what you do to me, yeah. Why won't you answer me, answer me, yeah. Why do you do what you do to me, yeah. Why won't you answer me, answer me, yeah) He's just wondering.

He's becoming more confident, and he's going to get her back.

Lana Del Rey – Serial Killer Lyrics 10 years ago
One way to look at this song is for it to be about someone who takes advantage of people and makes them think she's in love with them for fun. She does this to multiple people, and it results in very interesting events.

The beginning might be her convincing the person that she is in love with them, trying to gain their trust. (Wish I may, wish I might, find my one true love tonight. Do you think that he could be you?)

The next part, (If I lay really quiet, I know that what I do isn't right, I can't stop what I love to do.) means that when she is alone, she knows that what she does isn't moral and is wrong, but she can't bring herself to stop because she finds it so fun and amusing.

(So I murder love in the night, watching them fall one by one they fight, do you think you'll love me too, ooh, ooh?) The multiple lovers find out about one another, but using different complex methods, she makes each one think its not her fault. They fight, and so she "murders love in the night", which could refer to either their hearts, or some died in the fight, when they fell.

(My black fire's burning bright, maybe I'll go out tonight. We can paint the town in blue. I'm so hot, I ignite, dancing in the dark and I shine. Like a light I'm luring you.) Her need to manipulate someone is very strong, so her "black fire" is burning bright. She thinks she will go out tonight and find someone new to quench her need. She is describing herself dancing, and how she is attracting a new man.

(Sneak up on you, really quiet, whisper "Am I what your heart desires?" I could be your ingenue. Keep you safe and inspired, baby, let your fantasies unwind. We can do what you want to do, ooh, ooh.) She's making him fall in love with her by letting him do what he wants to do with her so he thinks she's the perfect woman.

(Just have fun), wanna play you like a game boy.
(Don't want one), what's, the thrill of the same toy?
La la, la la la, la la, la la lie down, down.) Clearly, she wants to manipulate him. She gets a new man every so often because her "toy" looses it's thrill after a while.

(Baby, I'm a sociopath, sweet serial killer. On the warpath, 'cause I love you just a little too much. I love you just a little too much.) She is a sociopath, because sociopaths manipulate other's feelings without caring, and she is a serial killer because she kills their hearts, or they die in fights with other men over her.

(You can see me drinking cherry cola, sweet serial killer. I left a love note, said you know I love the thrill of the rush.) The note could be figurative or literal, about how much she loves the thrill of the lies and challenging herself to lie to the men. She loves the rush as they discover some of the lies and just the general adrenaline from the whole thing.
