Personally, I think this song is about loneliness and the desire for closeness or intimacy. She is looking for a type of relationship (romantic, platonic, whatever) that takes little effort and makes you forget "your troubles".

The fact that she suggests it being anonymous (in the dark, faceless and nameless) is really very sad to me-- I see it as a desperate cry for intimacy, even if it must be with a stranger. And this is, perhaps, a comment on how we don't really know each other these days (ie: everyone is lost, isolated, looking for someone to share it with and ease the pain/suffering that is life, blah blah blah). I think the lines about turning off your phone because you're with friends now is really telling. Maybe she is suggesting that modern society is lacking intimacy or a certain degree of humanity, even, because of our reliance on technology. Just a idea, though. I don't think she's necessarily condemning us for it, but rather acknowledging it and its effects on the individual.

Another thought- throughout the song, she mentions seemingly trivial activities that people engage in together such as sharing clothes, drinking wine and having dinner. These things are so important to her simply because they allow for interaction and connection, and I think this importance is emphasized by the repetition of "you and me" at the end. This goes back to the whole idea of the desire for companionship, understanding and human connection.

I might be reading too much into it. I am most likely just projecting. Nevertheless, I think it's a great song.
