Mumford & Sons – Thistle & Weeds Lyrics 10 years ago
This band is clearly writing lyrics from a spiritual perspective.. This is an article on the lead singers background..
Band leader Marcus Mumford’s parents are leaders in the evangelical Vineyard Church in England, and he’s a member of that church to this day. Most of his songs reflect his spirituality, some more directly than others. Mumford told The Guardian in 2010 that his lyrics are “a deliberately spiritual thing but deliberately not a religious thing. I think faith is something beautiful, and something real, and something universal.”

“Sigh No More”
Serve God, love me and mend / This is not the end / Lived unbruised, we are friends / And I’m sorry / I’m sorry.

“Below My Feet”
And I was still but I was under your spell / When I was told by Jesus all was well / So all must be well.

“Whispers in the Dark”
Whispers in the dark / Steal a kiss and you’ll break your heart / Pick up your clothes and curl your toes / Learn your lesson, lead me home / Spare my sins for the ark / I was too slow to depart / I’m a cad but I’m not a fraud / I’d set out to serve the Lord.

@[ramblinwoman:4906] I couldn't agree more with your interpretation.. There's such rich spiritual expression in their lyrics.. I especially picked up on this particular song because my dad sent me this email.. Before we talk again I ask that you do a spiritual checkup with the following scripture readings; “Parable of the Sower” (Matthew 13:1-23; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 8:1-15). This is without doubt one of the most important parables that Jesus ever taught for it locates us in our spiritual journey. After you have read this parable I ask you to evaluate your spiritual seed, and where you see yourself at this time. My father is one of the most critical fault finding person I've ever met.. That being said, I identify with the first verse of this song.. Spare me your judgements and spare me your dreams

Awolnation – Knights Of Shame Lyrics 10 years ago
The beginning of this song is prophetic. I don't know what his spiritual background is, but the lyrics seem to correlate with scripture.
Sit back and look for the warnings
The future's bright and alarming
Sit back and look for the warnings
Matthew 24:6 - And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Matthew 24:7 - For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places.
Baby walkin' around with your head cut off
Baby walkin' around with your head cut off
I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4
The king and his ghost are laughing at me
These signs, you can see
One day we will listen for the sirens
'Til then we pray
Revelation 8:6 6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
