That's a very interesting approach. I admire the fact that you have studied psychology,I am planing to do this too and I like your way of thinking related to treating people with mental problems.

I hadn't heard of shinedown until now but I think the song's meaning (sound of madness) relates better with the ''problems'' by sex pistols.

Virus is indeed talking about some mental disorder but I think that sometimes (not always) that kind of disorders are products of the society. I'm not sure if I like maiden's virus cause it put's the blame on the person with the problem while it's not always like that, for example if we are talking about schizophrenia, then yes it's inheritant but if we are talking about depression or even other kind of mental issues then they can be acquired.

But how's to blame about that ?

Certainly the way that we live has much to do with it.It is proven scientifically for example that people who are in contact with nature have less possibilities to develop depression.
Also the people (not nesessary today’s people) tend to group theirelves,(see US’s college brotherhoods, or college’s political groups in other countries, or football teams, or in general social groups) and in order to be in a group you have to have something in common.
One bigger truth is that the mainstream way of living is forcing people to act in a specific way (political views, urban way of living and thinking and so on) and some people can’t or just don’t want to live that way and that’s another factor of mental disorder ! Cause if you are forced to fit in a way of living that is just not for you you develop issues.

Now what shinedown say is that if you want to have a certain way of thinking (cause listening to metal proves that) just fight for it and don’t expect everything to be ok just by doing nothing and waiting for them to save you by your problems .
We always tend to blame the society (as the song says) but sometimes we should blame ourselves too, for not doing anything about this.
I know it’s hard but it’s true, although I wouldn't go to Brent Smith for therapy !! Cause I think that there are better ways to stand for the life you want to live (without getting your ass kicked !).

I’m interested to your opinion
