Listening to Virgin Radio at 2.00 am one time, the DJ talked about the song and someone called in and gave the singer\'s, I think it was Chris Thompson, phone number. Live as it was he called and asked him about the lyrics. What Springstein told him was- Blinded by the light- During prohibition, a police stop on the highway, flashlights in their eyes.- Wrapped up like a deuce- A two-seater car that concealed illicit booze- hence another runner in the night. I think the assertion that the rest of the lyrics are personal to Springy is probable. There has been talk about the singests "Runner" sounds like "Roller" to add to the confusion. Great song...Great band.... |

@[jackstrawIII:4564] He wasn't a descendant. Like many Americans, who by definition have no obvious heritage, he or someone in his name made the Charlemagne connection. It seems to be something dreamed up by someone under the influence of an Albert Hoffman. |
