@[Slarti:34801] *so* much closer, *THANK YOU*. It's been 20+ years since Liz Fraser herself said the oft-quoted lyrics were weirder than whatever she had in mind. But watch the official video: at least twice, she clearly says 'ruddy columns' - you can see her lips. The other times it sounds like 'cups', but the vocals are doubled and the other word is 'drops'... it sounds a bit like 'cups', but it might be 'columns' there too. Either way: your lyrics are the closest I have seen, so thanks. |

Anderson wrote this at the very end of the two years in California since The Gowns fell apart, feeling creatively drained and ready to return to her parent's basement in South Dakota. Fortunately for us, she realized that the anger and despair and pain she thought was keeping her from moving forward was, in itself, a new way forward. Hopefully her post-California days have been as fulfilling and cathartic for her as they have been for us. |
