Heroin is a type of addiction. A heavy one. I don't know if this song is about heroin, but I do think is about addiction. Addition towards "her". My guess is that the song promotes it. Self indulgence? A trap (a sweet and brilliant one) for others? A mixture? Thanks for all your interesting and suggesting contributions. And thanks to the Beatles for the song. |

What I hear in the 3rd vers is: Always, no, sometimes think it's me But you know I know when it's a dream I think a NO, a MEAN, a YES but it's all wrong That is I think I disagree It would match the meaning of the previous verses, in the sense of him not tunning in with the rest (sometimes?) |

| I think that if we consider "number me" meaning "name me" or even better "choose me" everything else has more sense. In some direct version of the song this words are added: "Write it across my name" | |
