Interesting how Jeff saves the tearjerks as the last track on the past few Wilco albums. "On and On and On", "Everlasting Everything," "One Sunday Morning." |

@[NorthWriter:4532] Ummm...I think Jeff is pretty agnostic. I think he, like other songwriters, may borrow structure and images from biblical themes, but I'm pretty sure he does not believe in religion. |

Jeff's just saying "fuck the post-breakup conventions- just get on with it" despite his admission that he's still not over her, which makes him want to fuck the post break-up conventions even more. |

I think you guys are reading a little far into this. Sometimes, even people in close romantic relationships can find their partner seeming like a stranger sometimes. And sometimes, you as an individual have things you hesitate sharing with that person for numerous reasons. It's never easy, but that's the point of the song - I think we can take it. I think we can still make this work, even with challenges in a relationship. |

@[loldoctor:4530] I think you're spot on. On one hand, this song IS lamenting that so many great obscure artists never get heard on the radio. But the line about "the best laugh" never leaving your lungs is a step further, probably slyly making fun of the excessively indie trend of pushing the art of finding obscure artists to extremes. I also find it hard NOT to see the tongue-in-cheek irony in calling The Kay Settes the "best band [that'll] never get signed." If you guys are missing the irony in this song, you're not getting Tweedy. |
