@[Matzy94:23996] True or not the lyrics on this site tell a story. Someone received a letter they didn't want to read and had to pick a box or bag. A decision they wanted to just go away and made them cry. |

A day that something new was created: Sheets of empty canvas Untouched sheets of clay Were laid spread out before me As her body once did of profound meaning: All five horizons Revolved around her soul As the earth to the sun but it changed: Now the air I tasted and breathed Has taken a turn not happy about that: And now my bitter hands Chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything Oh the pictures have All been washed in black Tattooed everything But life goes on... I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by Some kids at play I can feel their laughter oh but they are a reminder... So why do I sear Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin Round my head I'm spinning Oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can, drop away They are a reminder of that momentous day where I created something so great that was taken away from me. I can't have even that now... And now my bitter hands Cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures had All been washed in black Tattooed everything All the love gone bad Turned my world to black Tattooed all I see All that I am All I'll be But, my wish for you.... I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky and me.... But why Why Why can't it be Why can't it be mine |

| Silverchair – Abuse Me Lyrics | 10 years ago |

So this song be about a relationship with dysfunctional communication methods. To me. So like there be a disagreement about something and someone gets upset. So they get abusive with their language. And that be where Silverchair is sarcastic - abuse me more I like it. Getting abusive with our words is an easy thing to do and maybe even cathartic when someone frustrates us. The part that, to me, was the most enigmatic about this song was the "throw the sailors overboard" part. What I think it means is that when the only solution is communication, and when the communication is hijacked by someone being abusive, that abusive person is essentially throwing the sailors overboard. That is, the only method to get to a solution to the problem is the very part being sabotaged by the abusive language. |
