| 17 Hours is about a great love relationship that is dissolving. Emma has quoted that this song is very personal to her. She has said it’s a “17-hour flight to get to Austin, Texas. It was the first of my many trips overseas.” I believe Austin is where she began a recording career. She also spoke about the song “Stainache,” saying before her music career, she just moved to a new city, and feel deep in love with a very special guy. She wasn’t working, and was completely overtaken and consumed with this love. Until she found a piano, and began making music. So, in a way “Stainache” came first, then things began to fall apart and “17-hours” was written. So, to me, 17-hours is about the disillusion of this once profound relationship. | |
