@[Jp4L:4108] Why do think it's underrated? It's played on classic rock stations all the time.

@[Sandwich:4107]-Masta WRONG! It's about heroin. There is no reference to any girl.

@[aphasia:4106] Yep! Nice to see that someone gets it. Like so many rock n' roll songs, drugs are a repeating topic. There's so many ways to describe it. Virtually everything the band "America" did was about heroin. Steely Dan is really big on that, even the innocent little song "Ricky don't Lose that Number" is talking about a drug dealer. Their albums are full of references. Listen to Goucho and read the lyrics. Aja also has a ton of it.

It's OBVIOUSLY about drugs, most likely heron. What else? Trying to make some girl? Hardly. Anybody who thinks so needs to brush up on poetry. It's a constant topic in rock n' roll and the Stones talk about it all the time; almost always veiled in symbolism and innuendo. It would not be very interesting if the lyrics were direct-"I need a fix and I need it now". It wouldn't flow very well. Can't you hear me knocking is a way of saying that the heroin is in control, and knocking on your windows and doors. It wants in. Keith Richards is a notorious drug user who has since given up Heroin, but he openly admits that he loves it. Someone was suggesting that it's about trying to get some girl, but there's actually no reference to any female, only the description of relentless nagging from withdrawal. As if anyone of them would have any trouble getting whatever female companion they wanted in the first place. At the point this record was released, the band was not very interested in romantic or otherwise mundane subjects as all that. They aren't the Beatles, OK?
