I have a serious question: Leviticus is Old Testament, so why would you allow the eating of shrimp and bacon, priests shaving their faces and getting haircuts, and people wearing clothes made from two or more kinds of materials (like polyester), yet homosexuality is taboo? If one part of the Old Testament still applies, why doesn't the rest? This has been bothering me for quite a while, and I still don't have a clue.... |

According to Tim, a fan and close friend asked if he would accept her because she was gay. This led him to feel that they weren't open enough about their beliefs. At about the same time came September's Children, which was when bullying led several gay kids to committing suicide in October of 2010. Once the event started to fade from the media, they wrote this song in response, thus bringing some attention back to what happened. And yes, a few of the kids were fans of Rise Against and their parents did reach out to the band to thank them. |
