Be still my heart! I adooooore this song. It's dancey, has a soothing rhythm, and of course–the lyrics! Everything is about perception and naturally, most listeners and readers will have their own interpretation of the lyrics. That's the beauty and sometimes danger, of music. In the end, only the writer/writers really know the story behind the lyrics–if there was one to begin with. Initially, this song was a heartbreak-type song that involved that final stage where you're finally over your ex lover. For whatever reason, things just didn't work out. You're at that point where you finally realize that it's truly over, a painful truth that can be hard to face and a lonely process, at that. That's how my brain processed this song at first. But then, I REALLY listened to every word and after reading about its real meaning to the writer himself, it made almost perfect sense! Very introspective song. It's about being queer in this society. From a very young age, he had high hopes that things would make more sense–that one day, he'd be able to finally shed light and fully embrace his differentness in order to make existence more enjoyable. I don't know, my head is analyzing this song so hard right now! I will have to continue my thoughts in writing at a later time. For now, I shall listen to this song on repeat. Cheers! |
