I agree wholeheartedly that this song speaks to the complexities of forbidden love. The song has a very personal meaning to me and pretty much every word of it describes exactly how I'm feeling right now. Basically, I'm sixteen, I've never been in a relationship, and for the first time ever someone I love has expressed desire to spend time with me and get to know me. He cares about me deeply and often I feel as if he knows me better than I even know myself. I can't get enough of him and sometimes when I am with him I pretend that he can love me. But the thing is he can't love me- he bats for the other team :) So the result is, we are in a hands-off kind of relationship but it still holds all the qualities of a true romantic relationship.
