| Train – Meet Virginia Lyrics | 10 years ago |

This song doesn't remind me of myself. But it does remind me of a old boy who used to like me who I liked back. He was tall, handsome, smart, atheltic, and very nice. He was popular and I'm very unpopular. Anyway he treasured me for who I was. Though before we really got a chance the most popular girl comes up and they quickly fall in love within a day. Whenever I see them passing in the hallway the main chorus of this song pops into my head and I try to hold back tears. |

I remember the first time I heard this song. I was driving with my dad in his car and about to change the radio station but he stopped me when this song came on. While it was playing he started to cry and explained how it reminded him of his mother who had passed over 9 years earlier. I felt bad or my father and began to think of my grandmother the rest of the way home. About a month later I was listening to a radio station again, this time alone, and "Calling all Angels" came on. I listened to the song more and more and quickly got addicted. Then it stroke me. This song reminded my father of my grandmother, and it reminded me of my older brother, Alex. Aex has been fighting osteosarcoma since I was in the beginning of elementry school. I remember being my sixth year-old self and crying in disbelief as my brother entered surgery after surgery. This song makes references to simple things like "tv set" for example. These simple small refrences remind me of before my brother got diagnosed and how simple life was. Also to me this song sounds like it is meant for someone in my thoughts and if I had to dedicate it to anyone it would be my brother, cancer surviver of 5 years. <3 |

| Vance Joy – Riptide Lyrics | 10 years ago |

I think this song is about the aspects of a modern teen, and the essents (spelled that wrong) of depression and social issues. For example; It says "I was scared of dentist and the dark, of pretty girls and starting conversations". To me this means that the singer is saying his fears used to be so simple compared to know. Then it says; "all my friends are turning green". This connects to modern society and how a lot of nessecaties cost money but not everyone can afford daily life. I think "the riptide" and "dark side" are metaphors for people who are against modern society and are true outsiders. Also these two terms make me think maybe they self harm. The song also says "Coming down to the riptide". This makes me think that this song could possibly be about someones life that is changing so rapidly in a bad way. |
