| People In Planes – Vampire Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I believe this song is about a depressed man reaching out to a stronger woman(or the opposite). The man intends to "feed" on the woman's happiness and use that happiness vicariously in order to keep him happy. Dating a depressed person can be very taxing on the sane one in the relationship. I believe this is where the vampire metaphor is applicable. "let me taste your blood 'cause I'm in pain." could translate to "let me use your happiness to overshadow my sorrow." When two people are in love, they tend to sympathize with each other's pain or happiness to a degree. This means that if one person in the relationship is much happier than the other, they will get dragged down into more sorrow and the other will be uplifted. A vampire feeds on the blood of an innocent and benefits from it, while the victim suffers. The victim in this scenario, is the strong-minded woman/man that agrees to grow close to the afflicted one. | |
